How to Remove Laptop Screen | Easy 15 Steps in 2022

How to Remove Laptop Screen | Easy 15 Steps

The steps you need to follow to remove your laptop screen are listed below:

  • Power off the laptop and remove the battery.
  • Remove the rubber covers
  • Remove the screws on the bezel
  • Remove the bezel from the screen
  • Remove the remaining screws
  • Remove the power cable
  • Remove the video connector
  • Remove the old screen
  • Reconnect the power cable
  • Reconnect the video connector
  • Attach the screen with the laptop frame
  • Refasten the screws
  • Check the new monitor
  • Refasten the bezel screws
  • Put back the bezel covers

Now let’s discuss these steps in detail:

Step 1: Power off the laptop and remove the battery.

The first thing you need to do is power off your laptop and remove the battery on the back.

Step 2: Remove the rubber covers

Next, find out the rubber covers that secure the screws around the bezel. These are tiny rubber pieces that help to secure the screws on the bezel. 

They are usually round in shape and are often camouflaged with the bezel. Therefore, it can be quite tricky to spot these covers.

Gently remove these covers and set them aside.

Step 3: Remove the screws on the bezel

Next, you will notice metal screws around the bezel. 

Using a small Philips screw driver, gently remove all the screws and keep them next to your rubber covers. 

Make sure to not lose any screws or their covers or else you won’t be able to reattach the bezel properly with the new screen.

Step 4: Remove the bezel from the screen

Once, you have removed all the screws, using a ruler gently remove the bezel from the screen.

Make sure to not break the bezel while removing it from the laptop. 

Step 5: Remove the remaining screws

Next, you need to unscrew a set of screws that are underneath the plastic bezel. 

Using the same screwdriver, unscrew all the screws that are connected with the screen and the frame.

Make sure to not break or lose any wires on the back panel during this step. Gently, place the screen on the keyboard with the back panel facing upwards.

Step 6: Remove the power cable

Remove the power cable followed.

Step 7: Remove the video connector

Nest, remove the video connector. The video connector will have several wires in a strip form and attached to the back panel with a clear tape.

Step 8: Remove the old screen

After the removing the video connector, there won’t be any wires on the back panel and therefore, you can easily remove the broken screen from the laptop.

Grab your new screen and place it on your keyboard with the back panel facing up. 

Step 9: Reconnect the power cable

Reconnect your power cable.

Step 10: Reconnect the video connector

Next, reconnect the video connector

Step 11: Attach the screen with the laptop frame

Lift the new screen and place it back in to the frame.

Step 12: Refasten the screws

Get the screws back in to hold together the frame with the screen. 

Step 13: Check the new monitor

Insert the AC adapter to turn on the new monitor and check its display. Next, hit the power button on and wait for the screen light to show up. 

If the display is clear, turn off the power and fix the bezel back on the laptop. Again, make sure to not snap  the bezel and reinsert it gently. 

Step 14: Refasten the bezel screws

Next, refasten the screws around the bezel. 

Step 15: Put back the bezel covers

Put back the rubber covers to secure the screws.

Reinsert the battery and switch on the laptop, check the display and you’re done!

When removing a laptop screen, make sure to keep the following factors in mind:

  1. Make sure your laptop is not connected to any electrical outlet.
